New Consul-General of The Netherlands, Los Angeles: Mrs. Madelien A.J. de
Planque
Madelien de
Planque took up her current appointment on 13 September, 2005. Before joining
the Netherlands Foreign Service, she graduated from the University of Utrecht
with a Master's Degree in Law.
Recent positions held by her include: Consul-General in Sydney, Counsellor (Press, Public Affairs and Culture) at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington; Head of the Dutch Foreign Information Service in the Hague; and various positions in the Economic Co-operation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague.
From 1984-89, Mrs de Planque was First Secretary (Economic and Trade) at the Netherlands Embassy in Canberra. From 1980-84 she was a member of the Netherlands Permanent Delegation to the OECD in Paris and, prior to that, was posted as Third Secretary (Trade) in the Netherlands Embassy in Algiers.
Mrs. de Planque is accompanied by her spouse Mr James (Jim) Humphreys, a retired Australian diplomat.
